Help with Family Cases

We provide free and low-cost assistance for anyone with a family law issue.

If you or someone you know is facing family law issues and needs legal assistance, we may be able to help.

We can help with:

  • Identifying your rights
  • Understanding your legal position based on your circumstances
  • Understanding whether you qualify for Legal Aid
  • Preparing documents and evidence
  • Finding an experienced lawyer to represent you
  • Divorce, disputes over the family home and tenancy, arrangements for children and care proceedings.

our services

We charge a flat rate of £60 per hour.

Initial review

No matter how complex your case we will provide a detailed review and a document which sets out the legal and factual issues that need to be dealt with. We will also give you basic advice on the legal process that applies to your case.

Case preparation

We help you to prepare the initial stages of your case, including dealing with the other party on your behalf, negotiation, compiling evidence and bundles and writing any letters that are necessary.

Representation / Mediation

We are currently unable to provide representation, however we may recommend an experienced lawyer who can do this.

For online mediation we charge a flat rate of £180 per party for a one-day / 6 hour mediation.

How we work

We are a not-for-profit organisation and work with a dedicated team of lawyers and law students who give their time in exchange for gaining valuable experience of family law cases. Our fees fund our overheads and expenses and our work is covered by professional indemnity insurance.

Working with Sequentus means

  • You get the benefit of a dedicated team of lawyers and aspiring lawyers working on your case
  • Our team also includes people who have experienced family law issues themselves
  • Our fees are more accessible than instructing a traditional law firm
  • We will always be clear about how we can help you and whether we think you need additional support
  • We are completely flexible – you can use our services but then decide to represent yourself at a hearing or to instruct a barrister
  • We work remotely, so we can assist no matter where you are in the country

If you qualify for Legal Aid we may be able to refer you to a Legal Aid provider who can take on your case.
