You should get regular updates from your regulator, informing you of what is happening behind the scenes and the timescales for any next steps. Unfortunately progressing a case often takes a long time, so there may not be anything to update you on. Some regulators might also be dealing with a backlog of cases, meaning that communication is not as fluid as it should be, which leads to a lot of frustration for registrants.
If you are not receiving updates, you can make a subject access request. This requires the regulator to disclose documents and correspondence relating to you and your case, where it is legal obliged to do so. They should normally do this within 28 days of receiving the request. Do bear in mind that some of the material you receive may be redacted or incomplete for legal reasons and also that you are not entitled to material which relates to the regulator’s decision making or legal advice it has received.
