pro bono family law clinic
From November 2023 our new 6-week family law programme allows you to gain pro bono experience by working on live cases remotely, under the supervision of our expert lawyer Charlene Berry.

For undergraduates, graduates and students on a BTC, LPC or SQE course we provide the opportunity to gain unparalleled insight into family law cases whilst developing invaluable practical skills, working remotely as part of a diverse casework team.
Over the course of 6 weeks, you will be given a complete case file and asked to collaborate with your peers and the clinic team. You will meet with the clinic team remotely each week to discuss progress, exchange ideas and allow for any necessary supervision. We use a secure messaging platform so that everyone in the team can discuss the case between meetings.
The programme includes comprehensive learning materials that guide you through the fundamentals of family law as well as mediation and litigation. Participants who complete the programme are eligible to apply for a two-year QWE traineeship with Berry Legal.

How do
I get involved?
Cost - £60 / 6 weeks
Step 1
Sign up for our free welcome course. It takes about an hour and a half to complete and at the end you can ask for a certificate of completion.
Step 2
Complete the free course and you will then receive instructions for joining the casework programme. We have start dates throughout the year, so choose a group that is convenient based on your availability.
Step 3
Take part in the casework programme over 6 weeks.
Step 4
Decide if you would like to take part in follow up activities, including the opportunity to review further family cases, or work on a mini project within the clinic.
